Job Description:

CDM Smith has a long-standing presence in North Carolina providing roadway design services. We are growing the team and this is an excellent opportunity to participate in client focused activities and take on leadership and client oriented tasks.

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by;

-Providing technical services for the design of transportation projects including urban and rural highways and roads.

-Will work under the direction of a Project Manager leading task teams designing roadway drainage elements of roadway design projects.

-Acting independently on technical matters.

-Acting as mentor for junior level employees.

-Directing the work of engineers and technicians.

-Working in a multi-disciplinary environment, closely coordinating with team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

A successful CDM Smith candidate will have:

-B.S. in Civil Engineering or related degree and 10+ years of experience since B.S.

-North Carolina P.E.

-Experience in North Carolina working on projects for NCDOT.

-Experience with roadway drainage design, including ditches, small pipe culverts, storm sewer systems, outfall analysis, and drainage investigations.

-Experience with bridge and/or culvert design over streams using the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) design guidelines, such as Hydraulic Design Series 5, 7, etc.

-Experience with drainage design using the NCDOT “Stormwater Best Management of Practices Toolbox”.

-Experience with design of bridges (BSRs) and culverts (CSRs) over FEMA regulated streams that require coordination and approvals from FEMA or their designees (CLOMR and LOMR preparation).

-Experience using Microstation CADD and Geopak Drainage Software, HY8, HECRAS, HEC1 or HECHMS, ARCGIS.
