CDM Smith Regional Manager Virtual Design and Construction in Phoenix, Arizona
The Regional Manager of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is responsible for VDC support of construction projects for assigned region. Ensures a consistent approach to the use of VDC within their assigned region.
In collaboration with different levels within the firm (architects, engineers, consultants, estimators, and constructors), develops VDC Execution plans (PxP) for design build or design only projects for their assigned region. Ensures proposals, project plans and execution of projects leverage VDC best practices and comply with organization policies.
Supports VDC projects from initiation to delivery of final build and operations/maintenance for their assigned region. During design and/or design build delivery, reviews work of architects, engineers, operators and construction professionals (including subcontractors) to ensure adherence to VDC plans. Develops a mobile plans system for the site. Supports construction staff on construction startup, layout and sequencing. Ensures that a record management system is implemented, and As-Builts are captured. Provides training to construction staff as needed.
Collaborates internally and externally to create, develop and apply new technology and processes for VDC and its related workflows.
Recommends updates to VDC policies and practices across the firm. Ensures a consistent approach to VDC within assigned region. Works cooperatively with sales, designers, estimators, operators, and construction professionals to create an integrated and collaborative project delivery process.
Develops, updates, and maintains an internal and external communication plan about VDC capabilities for their assigned region. Establishes and improves the visibility of the firm’s brand in the VDC industry.
Performs other duties as required.
Skills: Ability to develop VDC workflow processes.
High level knowledge of computer software and models typically employed in design, operations, and construction as they relate to VDC of facilities, environmental, and utility projects. (e.g. Revit, Navisworks, AutoCad)
Ability to develop and employ site survey layout & Quality Control strategies.
Ability to influence executive and senior leadership and drive decision-making and create change.
Knowledge of financial management and cost control best practices.
Travel: Frequent local, national travel required and limited international travel may be required.
Environmental Factors: Daily exposure to computer screens for extended periods of time. Visits to construction sites and operating facilities will be required on an as needed basis. Compliance with all CDM Smith Health and Safety plans will be required.

CDM Smith Employment Type:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent degree.
Experience: 5 years of experience in design, estimating, construction and operations.
Construction experience on Design-Build Projects highly preferred. Prior experience creating and implementing new technology supported processes.
