CDM Smith Structural Engineer 4 in Boston, Massachusetts

This is a nationwide position that may deploy for 90 days or longer at a time to different locations throughout the United States for disaster recovery work.
General Design Responsibilities May Include:
Analyzing and designing structures for water and wastewater treatment, and other facilities.
Preparing structural design calculations and check calculations.
Assist in the development of structural drawings.
Coordinate design with other disciplines
Review or write specifications.
Perform engineering services during construction, including review of shop drawing submittals and response to contractor questions.
Supervise the work of other engineers and/or drafters.
Conduct condition assessments of existing structures and prepare reports.
Manage tasks on large projects or manage small projects.
Participate to a limited degree in new business development.
General Responsibilities When Deployed May Include:
Conducting preliminary damage assessments (PDAs) in the field with Federal, State and local officials.
Writing Project Worksheets (PWs) for the purposes of determining project eligibility, scopes of work and estimating costs to repair or replace a facility or structure in order to restore it to its pre-disaster design.
Providing technical, cost estimating, disaster recovery and/or management services with an emphasis on engineering and the understanding of design principles and engineering specifications.
Offering solutions to engineering problems.
Structural Engineer 4
CDM Smith Employment Type:
BSCE required; MSCE preferred
At least 5 to 7 years of experience in structural analysis, and design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, and foundations since obtaining B.S.
Must have E.I.T. or the ability to obtain it within 18 months
Registration as Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer preferred
Knowledge of building codes and application to design situations
Experience designing structures for water and wastewater treatment plants
Experience in structural condition assessments
Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, Autocad)
Knowledge of structural and engineering applications (STAAD, RISA, MathCad)
Previous disaster assistance experience is strongly desired.
Ability to mobilize within 24-48 hours, commit to a minimum 90-day assignment in remote locations and disaster conditions.
