Job Description:

This is a nationwide position that may deploy for 90 days or longer at a time to different locations throughout the United States for disaster recovery work.

General Design Responsibilities May Include:

  • Planning and formulating building design with general supervisory responsibility in the preparation of design presentation and construction contract documents.

  • Primary responsibility for building design formulation and development of construction contract documents with architectural and engineering staff.

  • Developing design criteria to meet client needs and monitor projects through close out.

  • Establish and document applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations.

  • Recommend construction materials, technologies and methodologies necessary for design detailing and specification preparation.

  • Develop design solutions.

  • Develop project budgets and schedules, both internal and external.

  • Participate to a limited degree in new business development efforts.

General Responsibilities When Deployed May Include:

  • Conducting preliminary damage assessments (PDAs) in the field with Federal, State and local officials.

  • Writing Project Worksheets (PWs) for the purposes of determining project eligibility, scopes of work and estimating costs to repair or replace a facility or structure in order to restore it to its pre-disaster design.

  • Offering technical, cost estimating, disaster recovery, or management services with an emphasis on Architecture or Historical Architecture.

  • Providing knowledge of building design or historical architectural design during recovery efforts.

  • Contributing to recovery team by providing a variety of building elements including, but not limited to, structural design knowledge, aesthetics, functionality, historic preservation, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture from a program accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB), minimum Bachelor of Architecture (5 year degree) or Master of Architecture.

  • Intern Development Program (IDP) training successfully completed, as specified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).

  • Eligible to sit for the Architectural Registration Exam as administered by NCARB, Registered Architect preferred.

  • 6 years related experience under the direct supervision of a registered Architect.

  • Competency with a wide variety of construction materials, technologies and methodologies.

  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD is required. Competency with modeling and rendering software programs and Sketchup.

  • Fluency with basic business office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), Adobe Photoshop

  • Appropriate writing and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous disaster assistance experience is strongly desired.

  • Ability to mobilize within 24-48 hours, commit to a minimum 90-day assignment in remote locations and disaster conditions
